kEVLARS AND k20S

Words: Iori Suzuki
Pictures: John Godinez

A month before I met Jhon, I saw and witnessed an EG hatch race car tear up Central Circuit in Japan. Now, here I am thinking if what I saw was double. Jhon certainly delivered the goods with this one.
Picture
Back when he was still rolling in his automatic Corolla, he thought of running a 4AGZE to meet his need for speed.
Jhon swapped his Corolla for a Civic ESI,  which fixated him with swapping with in a K20.

This was when things got pretty interesting. From D15 to ZC to K20, it can be seen that the engine was done and used properly – at the track and as his daily grind.

The Try Box EG6 from Japan and Jhon's car have a lot in common but they differ in the details.
Picture
Jhon’s Spoon brakes are bigger than his Japanese counterpart. This is not the typical caliper upgrade we often see on civics,
this one was actually made for the S2000.

Kevlar body panels shed weight and it makes sure to let rice boys know that this car means business.  While the pink roll cage gives the car a unique, boy-next-door vibe to attract a little attention from the ladies.

The motor is still runs on stock internals along with minor bolt on upgrades which propel
the car swiftly from stand still to 6th gear's red line in a few hundred meters.

You know, just to be sure, always double tap like Jhon Tapia.
